Cathodic corrosion protection in plant rooms with increased chloride exposure

In the i9 Plaza building in Grafinger Straße, Munich, a significantly increased chloride concentration was detected in the reinforced concrete floor slab below the floating screeds in the plant rooms. The cause was the repeated contamination of the screed surface by salty water from the water softening systems in combination with a lack of waterproofing of the underlying concrete components.

Cathodic corrosion protection (CCP) with rod anodes was used specifically to enable cost and operationally efficient repairs and to ensure the continuous operation of the water softening systems during the measures.

A total of 21 m² of damaged ceiling surface was protected using KKS.

The Noxeco system used enabled precise current control and safe operation even under confined technical conditions. Thanks to the modular control of the protective power supply, no interruption to the building technology was necessary – a decisive advantage over conventional renovation methods.

Thanks to the combination of high anode density, intelligent control and flexibility during construction, the chosen solution offers long-term protection for the load-bearing concrete structures in a highly sensitive technical area.
