Repair under the influence of groundwater – Cathodic corrosion protection for load-bearing reinforced concrete components The underground parking garage at Lauinger Strasse 43-49 in the Munich city area has 32 parking spaces, including two on a parking pallet, with a total area of around 660 m². Access is via an open ramp with an area of around 62 m². The building was constructed using waterproof reinforced concrete (WU construction); expansion joints were installed in the area of the ramp to absorb movement. In the course of a comprehensive repair measure, a considerable need for renovation was identified as a result of chloride-induced reinforcement corrosion – particularly on the floor slab, the wall bases and the column bases. Due to the constant exposure to groundwater and the advanced structural condition, a particularly sustainable solution was required. Cathodic corrosion protection (CCP) was used – implemented by: Anode nets on the base plate and ramp Anode hinges on vertical components such as walls and columns Precise, component-by-component current control via the modular Noxeco system The choice of this method enabled a targeted protective current distribution, adapted to the different geometric and physical requirements of the building components. The selected system contributes significantly to the long-term preservation of the load-bearing structure and ensures effective and economical corrosion protection even under the influence of groundwater.
